Galveston Fishing Charters Fishing Report and Outlook
Recently, on our Galveston Bay and Marsh Fishing Charters very good numbers of Red Fish are being caught in the back lakes and bayous. This is the most family fishing friendly Galveston Fishing Charter for the calm waters of the back lakes as well as the number of fish that we are catching. Our best baits have been live shrimp rigged under a popping cork. We are targeting drains in the bayous, wind blown banks as well as open bay oyster reefs. Red Fish, Speckled Trout, Flounder, Sheepshead, Golden Croaker and black drum are being caught in this area.
The jetty and beachfronts are holding the higher salinity levels which have fish concentrated along the granite rock groins and beachfront. Speckled Trout, Spanish Mackerel, Sheepshead, Pompano, drum, Gulf Trout, and even some sharks are being caught on this Fishing Charter. Live shrimp or croakers free lined has been the go to rigging for these charters, and some trophy speckled trout are being landed.
Our Galveston Deep Sea Fishing Charters are experiencing some amazing fishing. Catches have included Giant Red Snapper, Amberjack, Cobia, King Mackerel, and more. Red Snapper season opened on June 1 and will last 46 days. This is a great time of year to get out on the Gulf of Mexico and catch some Giant Fish!
June 8 began our Galveston Summer Fishing Camps for Kids. At this camp kids learn from a USCG Captain and Professional Galveston Fishing Guide. Our focus is to teach the basics of fishing – knot tying, casting, rigging, how to catch fish, boating safety, and more. Aftere a couple of hours at the dock learning new skills, kids will board the boat with the Captain and Mate and go out on Galveston Bay Fishing.
